Blugolds Mark Dual Win Over Titans

UW-Oshkosh had two athletes tie for first in their respective events and another win the all-around competition during its 183.55-181.925 loss to the UW-Eau Claire women's gymnastics team on Friday (Feb. 8) in Kolf Sports Center.

UW-Oshkosh's Leane Blais (So. • Salisbury, N.C.) scored 9.475 points on the uneven bars to share first place with UW-Eau Claire's Rachel Behmer. The event also featured the Titans' Elizabeth Kiel (Fr. • Union Grove) finishing third and Krystal Walker (Fr. • Chicago, Ill.) fifth with scores of 9.30 and 9.10, respectively.

In the floor exercise, UW-Oshkosh's Abby Zubella (Sr. • Appleton) and UW-Eau Claire's both tallied a winning score of 9.475. Walker took fourth with a mark of 9.325, while UW-Oshkosh teammates Stephanie Gorman (Jr. • Belvidere, Ill.) and Steffani Meusburger (Jr. • Highlands Ranch, Colo.) both placed fifth with a figure of 9.25.

Walker won the all-around competition with a score of 37.10 points. In addition to her finishes on the uneven bars and in the floor exercise, she also placed second on the balance beam with a mark of 9.35 and third on the vault with a value of 9.325.

The Titans had two other place winners on the balance beam as Blais finished fourth with a score of 9.15 and Gorman fifth with a mark of 9.125. UW-Oshkosh's Emily Ryan (Fr. • Hanover Park, Ill.) added a sixth-place score of 9.10 on the vault.

UW-Oshkosh compiled its overall team score on 46.30 points in the floor exercise, 45.625 on the uneven bars, 45.125 on the vault and 44.875 on the balance beam.

Other event winners for the Blugolds were Michaela McCarney on the balance beam with a score of 9.45 and Cecily Solem on the vault with a mark of 9.425.

UW-Oshkosh competes with UW-La Crosse, UW-Stout and UW-Whitewater at the Harley Davidson Invitational next Friday (Feb. 15) in Milwaukee.
