Titans Finish Third At Gershon/McLellan Invitational

Leane Blais (So. • Salisbury, N.C.) finished second on the uneven bars and Steffani Meusburger (Jr. • Highlands Ranch, Colo.) third to lead UW-Oshkosh at the Gershon/McLellan Women's Gymnastics Invitational on Friday (Feb. 1) in La Crosse.

Host UW-La Crosse won the four-team meet with 184.525 points, while Winona State University (Minn.) placed second with 182.625. UW-Oshkosh ranked third with 179.50 points and Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) fourth with 173.45.

UW-Oshkosh compiled its overall score by compiling 45.075 points on the balance beam, 45.30 in the floor exercise, 44.65 on the uneven bars and 44.475 on the vault.

The Titans owned three of the top eight finishers on the uneven bars as Blais finished second with 9.475 points, Meusburger third with 9.40 and Courtney Howard (Fr. • Johnson City, Tenn.) eighth with 9.00.

UW-Oshkosh's Krystal Walker (Fr. • Chicago, lll.) finished fourth in the all-around competition with a score of 35.175. She also posted sixth-place figures of 9.375 on the balance beam and 9.175 on the vault while finishing 11th in the floor exercise with a mark of 9.15.

Abby Zubella (Sr. • Appleton) added a pair of top 11 finishes for the Titans. She placed fourth in the floor exercise with 9.575 points and 11th on the balance beam with 9.15.

The Titans also had Alyssa Noel (Fr. • Greenfield) finish ninth in the floor exercise with 9.20 points and Lindsey Hermsen (Sr. • Howard) 11th on the balance beam with 9.15. Stephanie Gorman (Jr. • Belvidere, Ill.) and Emily Ryan (Fr. • Hanover Park, Ill.) both placed 12th on the vault with a score of 9.025.  

UW-Oshkosh plays host to UW-Eau Claire next Friday (Feb. 8) in Kolf Sports Center.
