Blais, Walker Capture Titles In Tennessee

First-place finishes by Leane Blais (So. • Salisbury, N.C.) on the uneven bars and Krystal Walker (Fr. • Chicago, Ill.) in the all-around competition led the UW-Oshkosh women's gymnastics team at the Ozone Collegiate Classic on Saturday (Jan. 19) in Knoxville, Tenn.

UW-Eau Claire won the four-team meet with 184.60 points, while Centenary College (La.) finished second with 184.275, UW-Oshkosh third with 181.45 and UW-Stout fourth with 180.80.

UW-Oshkosh compiled its highest overall score since 2011 with marks of 46.20 in the floor exercise, 45.875 on the vault, 45.05 on the balance beam and 44.325 on the uneven bars.

Blais took first place on the uneven bars with 9.525 points. She also finished 12th on the balance beam with a value of 8.875.

Walker scored 37.15 points to defeat six other all-around contestants, including UW-Stout's Brittany DeZiel who finished second with 37.125. Walker also placed second on the balance beam with a score of 9.575, eighth in the floor exercise with a mark of 9.425, ninth on the vault with a figure of 9.35 and 12th on the uneven bars with a count of 8.80.

UW-Oshkosh's Abby Zubella (Sr. • Appleton) contributed a pair of top 12 finishes. She placed second in the floor exercise with a score of 9.525 and 10th on the balance beam with a mark of 9.175.

The Titans' Courtney Howard (Fr. • Johnson City, Tenn.) tallied 8.80 points on the uneven bars to share 12th place with Walker.

UW-Oshkosh visits UW-Whitewater for a dual meet next Saturday (Jan. 26).
