Titans Rally Past Warriors In Fourth Rotation

The UW-Oshkosh women's gymnastics team outscored Winona State University (Minn.) by nearly three points in the final rotation to rally past the Warriors, 180.25-179.15, on Friday (Jan. 11) in Kolf Sports Center.

Winona State University took a 134.425-133.20 lead into the final rotation, but was unable to hold the advantage despite scoring 44.725 points on the balance beam. UW-Oshkosh overcame its deficit and secured the victory with 47.05 points in the floor exercise.

UW-Oshkosh's overall score also featured points of 45.35 on the vault, 44.125 on the uneven bars and 43.725 on the balance beam. Winona State University's overall value also included points of 46.825 in the floor exercise, 46.025 on the vault and 41.575 on the uneven bars.

The Titans' Krystal Walker (Fr. • Chicago, Ill.) won the all-around competition with 36.175 points. She also tied teammate Stephanie Gorman (Jr. • Belvidere, Ill.) for first place on the vault with 9.425 points. UW-Oshkosh's Abby Zubella (Sr. • Appleton) won the floor exercise with a score of 9.55.

Finishing second for UW-Oshkosh were Gorman in the floor exercise with a score of 9.525 and Leane Blais (So. • Salisbury, N.C.) on the uneven bars with a figure of 9.10.

Third-place finishes went to the Titans' Nicole deRoode (Fr. • St. Louis, Mo.) and Courtney Howard (Fr. • Johnson City, Tenn.). deRoode received a score of 8.90 on the balance beam while Howard earned a mark of 8.85 on the uneven bars.

UW-Oshkosh's Natasha Cattelino (So. • Pleasant Prairie) placed fourth on the uneven bars with a score of 8.80.

Walker and Steffani Meusburger (Jr. • Highlands Ranch, Colo.) each finished fifth for the Titans in two events. Walker posted scores of 8.75 on the balance beam and 9.35 in the floor exercise while Meusburger recorded marks of 8.725 on the uneven bars and 9.35 in the floor exercise. Gorman contributed a fifth-place of 8.75 on the balance beam.

Winona State University captured two event titles as Anna Gleason won the uneven bars and Stephanie Wojton the balance beam with scores of 9.325 and 9.30, respectively.

UW-Oshkosh joins Centenary College (La.), UW-Eau Claire and UW-Stout at the Ozone Invitational next Saturday (Jan. 19) in Knoxville, Tenn.
