Titans Trounce Gusties

UW-Oshkosh swept the top-four finishes on the uneven bars and the top-three places on the balance beam as it rolled to a 176.40-168.20 women's gymnastics victory over Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) on Saturday (Jan. 21) in St. Peter, Minn.

The Titans compiled 44.575 of their team points on the uneven bars. Leane Blais (Fr. • Salisbury, N.C.) won the event with a score of 9.45, while Natasha Cattelino (Fr. • Pleasant Prairie) ranked second at 9.05, Leah Herchenbach (Fr. • Libertyville, Ill.) third at 8.95 and Ashlan Millikan (Fr. • New Castle, Ind.) fourth at 8.90.

UW-Oshkosh added another 43.60 points on the balance beam, including 9.325 by first-place finisher Jill Lindberg (Sr. • Meridian, Idaho). The Titans also had Stephanie Gorman (So. • Belvidere, Ill.) list second and Herchenbach third with scores of 9.20 and 8.775, respectively.

Herchenbach won the all-around competition with 34.925 points. Her value also included a sixth-place score of 9.05 on the vault.

UW-Oshkosh owned three of the top five marks in the floor exercise as Abby Zubella (Jr. • Appleton) finished first with 9.175 points, Lindberg second at 9.125 and Millikan fifth at 8.45.

The Titans had three other significant finishes on the vault as Millikan placed second with 9.175 points, Blais fourth with 9.10 and Khrystyna Lychagina (So. • River Grove, Ill.) sixth with 9.05. Gustavus Adolphus College's Samantha Opsahl won the event with a score of 9.30.

UW-Oshkosh travels to Winona State University (Minn.) on Jan. 31.
