Titans List Fourth Against NCAA Division I Squads

UW-Oshkosh compiled a team score of 174.725 as it earned fourth place at the season-opening Kentucky Classic on Saturday (Jan. 7) in Lexington, Ky.

The University of Oklahoma won the meet at 195.875 to defeat two other NCAA Division I teams. The University of Kentucky came in second with a mark of 194.325, followed by Bowling Green State University (Ohio) in third at 188.925.

Leane Blais (Fr. • Salisbury, N.C.) led the Titans with a pair of 16th-place finishes. She compiled scores of 9.05 on the uneven parallel bars and 9.00 on the balance beam. UW-Oshkosh had two other solid showings on the beam, with Jill Lindberg (Sr. • Meridian, Idaho) placing 17th at 8.95 and Leah Herchenbach (Fr. • Libertyville, Ill.) earning 19th with an 8.925.

Titans recording an individual finish of 17th were Ashlan Millikan (Fr. • New Castle, Ind.) and Abby Zubella (Jr. • Appleton). Millikan counted a parallel bars mark of 8.90, while Zubella posted 9.375 points in the floor exercise.

UW-Oshkosh compiled team scores of 45.30 on the vault, 44.70 in the floor exercise, 43.475 on the balance beam and 41.25 on the bars. Millikan rounded out the individual results with her 9.35 for 18th place on the vault.

Oklahoma, which placed third at the 2011 NCAA Division I Championship, totaled team marks of 49.30 on the vault, 48.925 on the bars, 48.90 in the floor exercise and 48.75 on the beam.

Kentucky finished 0.55 points behind after totaling 49.025 on the vault, 48.30 on the beam and 48.50 on both the bars and floor exercise. The Wildcats were ranked 23rd in the GymInfo Preseason Coaches Poll.

Listing third, Bowling Green State finished with team figures of 48.50 on the vault, 48.425 in the floor exercise, 46.525 on the beam and 45.475 on the bars.

The Titans begin their league schedule against UW-Whitewater on Saturday (Jan. 14) in Kolf Sports Center.
