Titans' Second-Highest Score Of Season Not Enough

UW-Oshkosh owned the top three finishers on the uneven bars during its 183.10-178.575 defeat to UW-Eau Claire on Friday (Feb. 24) in Eau Claire. The Blugolds are currently ranked eighth in the NCAA Division III by the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA).

Leane Blais (Fr. • Salisbury, N.C.) was the victorious Titan with her bars score of 9.55. Natasha Cattelino (Fr. • Pleasant Prairie) followed in second place at 9.10, and Ashlan Millikan (Fr. • New Castle, Ind.) booked a third-place tally of 9.05.

The other third-place result for UW-Oshkosh came from Abby Zubella (Jr. • Appleton), who compiled 9.35 points in the floor exercise. Stephanie Gorman (So. • Belvidere, Ill.) then contributed fourth-place standings with her scores of 9.275 on the balance beam and 9.10 on the vault.

Notching 45.225 points, the Titans marked their best balance beam total of the season. UW-Oshkosh added figures of 44.625 in the floor exercise, 44.525 on the vault and 44.200 on the bars.

UW-Eau Claire’s Danielle Schulzetenberg dominated the night by winning four events. She posted 9.60 points in the floor exercise, 9.575 on the balance beam, 9.325 on the vault and 36.750 for the all-around.

The Titans’ Leah Herchenbach (Fr. • Libertyville, Ill.) listed third in the all-around event with 35.950 points.

Next Saturday in Eau Claire, UW-Oshkosh competes at the WIAC Championship, which also serves as the NCGA West Regional Qualifier.
