Third-Ranked Eagles Acquire Win Over Titans

Jill Lindberg (Sr. • Meridian, Idaho) shared the top finish on the balance beam as the UW-Oshkosh women's gymnastics team dropped a 179.35-175.80 decision to four-time defending national champion UW-La Crosse on Friday (Feb. 10) in Kolf Sports Center.

Lindberg and UW-La Crosse's Taylor Cochran tied for first place on the balance beam with scores of 9.175. UW-Oshkosh's Leah Herchenbach (Fr. • Libertyville, Ill.) placed third with a score of 9.00.

Herchenbach also finished second in the all-around competition with 35.00 points and fifth on the uneven bars with 8.55. UW-La Crosse's Morgan Shene won both categories with 36.275 points in the all-around competition and 9.30 on the uneven bars.

UW-Oshkosh had two other second-place efforts as Leane Blais (Fr. • Salisbury, N.C.) compiled 9.275 points on the uneven bars and Abby Zubella (Jr. • Appleton) 9.25 in the floor exercise. UW-La Crosse's Jenna Swail took first place in the floor exercise with a score of 9.35.

UW-La Crosse, which entered the meet ranked third in the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) by GymInfo, owned the top-four finishers on the vault. Swails won the event with a score of 9.35, while UW-Oshkosh's Ashlan Millikan (Fr. • New Castle, Ind.) placed fifth with a value of 9.10.

The Titans also had Natasha Cattelino (Fr. • Pleasant Prairie) finish fourth on the uneven bars with a score of 8.60 and Stephanie Gorman (So. • Belvidere, Ill.) fifth in the floor exercise with a mark of 9.05.

UW-Oshkosh, ranked 11th in the country, competes against 12th-ranked Hamline University (Minn.), 10th-ranked UW-Stout and sixth-ranked UW-Whitewater on Friday (Feb. 17) in Milwaukee.
