Eagles Overwhelm Titans

UW-La Crosse owned the top four finishers in three of the four events as it coasted to a 183.50-173.85 victory over the UW-Oshkosh women's gymnastics team on Friday (Jan. 28) in La Crosse.

The Eagles earned their highest score of the season by compiling 46.875 points on the vault, 46.50 on the uneven bars, 45.65 in the floor exercise and 44.475 on the balance beam. UW-La Crosse swept the top six places on the vault, the top four rankings on the uneven bars and in the floor exercise and the top three listings on the balance beam.

UW-Oshkosh calculated its score by marking 44.70 points in the floor exercise, 44.15 on the vault, a season-high 43.325 on the uneven bars and 41.675 on the balance beam.

Jill Lindberg (Jr. • Meridian, Idaho) led UW-Oshkosh with a fourth-place score of 9.025 on the balance beam. The Titans had three fifth-place results as Abby Zubella (So. • Appleton) counted 9.075 points in the floor exercise, Stacie Jenkins (Sr. • Peoria, Ariz.) 9.00 on the uneven bars and Paula Delsart (Sr. • Green Bay) 8.725 on the uneven bars. Jenkins also finished third in the all-around competition with 33.60 points.

Khrystyna Lychagina (Fr. • River Grove, Ill.) took sixth place for UW-Oshkosh in the floor exercise with a score of 9.05.

UW-La Crosse's Christa Booman captured the all-around title with 37.25 points. She also finished first on the uneven bars with 9.525 points and tied teammate Tegan Oare for first place on the vault with 9.50 points. The Eagles' Jen Andersen won the balance beam competition with 9.15 points.

UW-La Crosse's Morgan Shene and Jenna Swails tied for first place in the floor exercise with 9.425 points.

UW-Oshkosh returns to UW-La Crosse on Friday (Feb. 4) for the Gershon/McLellan Invitational.
