Titans Finish Fourth Against NCAA Division I Opponents

Khrystyna Lychagina (Fr. • River Grove, Ill.) finished 17th in three events as the UW-Oshkosh women's gymnastics team placed fourth in a battle against NCAA Division I opponents Brigham Young University (Utah), George Washington University (D.C.) Kent State University (Ohio) on Friday (Jan. 21) in Cleveland, Ohio.

Brigham Young University and 11th-ranked Kent State University tied for first place in the team standings with 194.775 points, while George Washington University finished third with 190.775 and UW-Oshkosh fourth with 181.775. The Titans arrived at their highest score of the season by totaling 46.90 points in the floor exercise, 46.30 on the vault, 45.95 on the balance beam and 42.625 on the uneven bars.

The Titans' Lychagina demonstrated her versatility by recording 17th-place scores of 9.525 in the floor exercise, 9.45 on the vault and 9.40 on the balance beam.

Stacie Jenkins (Sr. • Peoria, Ariz.) and Abby Zubella (So. • Appleton) were the highest UW-Oshkosh finishers. Both gymnasts placed 13th in the floor exercise with scores of 9.55.

UW-Oshkosh had three 18th-place finishers as Amanda Bergesen (Jr. • Lake Geneva) tallied 9.475 points in the floor exercise, Dana Herr (Fr. • Swanton, Ohio) 9.40 on the vault and Jill Lindberg (Jr. • Meridian, Idaho) 9.35 on the balance beam.

Christina Lenny of host Kent State University won the all-around competition with 39.15 points. Lenny also took first place on the vault with a score of 9.90 and the uneven bars with a value of 9.875. She shared the top listing on the uneven bars with Haylee Rollins of Brigham Young University.

Jennifer Lezeu of Brigham Young University captured first place in the floor exercise with a score of 9.80. Three individuals shared first place on the balance beam as Leslie Delima of George Washington University and Marie Case and Brianna Skiffington of Kent State University all compiled 9.775 points.
