Titans To Challenge NCAA Division I Squads In Cleveland

The UW-Oshkosh gymnastics team will test itself against premium competition when it participates in a four-team event on Friday (Jan. 21) in Cleveland, Ohio.

The Wolstein Center, site of the 2011 NCAA Division I Championship, will also welcome Kent State University (Ohio), Brigham Young University (Utah) and George Washington University (D.C.). Kent State is currently ranked 11th in the NCAA Gymnastics Top 25.

The Golden Flashes (2-0) tallied a 195.475-189.625 victory in their previous meet against Sacramento State. Making her season debut, Christina Lenny captured the all-around title with 39.325 points. Lenny won both the vault (9.825) and the balance beam (9.850) events.

Brigham Young has a 3-1 record so far. Last week, the Cougars posted a team score of 193.075 to top 18th-ranked University of Arizona and Utah State. The top scorer was Jennifer Lezeu, who tallied a 9.775 on the floor exercise.

The Titans are still riding high from their wins over Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) and Winona State University (Minn.) on Jan. 15. The floor exercise belonged to UW-Oshkosh, with Abby Zubella (So. • Appleton) marking a 9.45 to top four consecutive Titan finishers.
