Titans Oust Gusties, Warriors In Home Debut

UW-Oshkosh swept the top four places in the floor exercise competition as it defeated Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) and Winona State University (Minn.) in a women's gymnastics meet held Saturday (Jan. 15) in Kolf Sports Center.

UW-Oshkosh won its home opener with 174.725 points. The Titans tallied 45.525 points in the floor exercise, 43.15 on the balance beam, 43.125 on the vault and 42.925 on the uneven bars.

Winona State University finished second to UW-Oshkosh in the team standings with 173.125 points and Gustavus Adolphus College third with 163.675.

UW-Oshkosh took control of the meet with its strong performance in the floor exercise competition. The Titans' Abby Zubella (So. • Appleton) won the event with 9.45 points, while Stacie Jenkins (Sr. • Peoria, Ariz.) finished second at 9.375, Jill Lindberg (Jr. • Meridian, Idaho) third at 9.10 and Amanda Bergesen (Jr. • Lake Geneva) fourth at 9.05.

Jenkins also placed second in the all-around competition with a score of 34.90, second on the uneven bars with a mark of 9.05 and seventh on the balance beam with a worth of 8.55.

UW-Oshkosh owned the top finish on the vault as Khrystyna Lychagina (Fr. • River Grove, Ill.) posted a winning score of 8.825. The Titans' Dana Herr (Swanton, Ohio) finished third on the apparatus with a value of 8.75 and Ryan Metzger (Sr. • Hanover Park, Ill.) eighth at 8.65.

UW-Oshkosh also received a third-place score of 9.05 from Herr on the balance beam and fifth-place marks of 8.95 from Lindberg on the balance beam and 8.925 from Zubella on the uneven bars.

Heather Rummelein of Winona State University won the all-around competition with a score of 35.425. She also took first place on the balance beam with a mark of 9.35. Anna Gleason of Winona State University captured first place on the uneven bars with a score of 9.225.

UW-Oshkosh competes against NCAA Division I opponents Brigham Young University (Utah), George Washington University (D.C.) and Kent State University (Ohio) on Friday (Jan. 21) in Cleveland, Ohio.
