Titans Earn Narrow Victory Over Blugolds

UW-Oshkosh scored 46.725 points in the floor exercise and a season-best 45.95 on the balance beam as it nipped UW-Eau Claire, 181.575-181.550, in a women's gymnastics meet held Saturday (Feb. 19) in Kolf Sports Center.

UW-Oshkosh owned four of the top five finishers in the floor exercise, including Abby Zubella (So. • Appleton) who won the event with 9.525 points. The Titans also had Jill Lindberg (Jr. • Meridian, Idaho) place third with 9.425 points, Stacie Jenkins (Sr. • Peoria, Ariz.) fourth with 9.40 and Khrystyna Lychagina (Fr. • River Grove, Ill.) fifth with 9.35.

On the balance beam, four of the top six finishers belonged to UW-Oshkosh. The Titans had Lychagina place second with 9.375 points, Jenkins third with 9.35, Paula Delsart (Sr. • Green Bay) fourth with 9.075 and Lindberg sixth with 9.10.

UW-Oshkosh's Jenkins tallied 37.025 points to win the all-around competition. She also finished third on the uneven bars with a score of 9.20.

Dana Herr (Fr. • Swanton, Ohio) finished third for the Titans on the vault with 9.225 points, while Zubella placed fourth on the uneven bars with 8.90 points, Stephanie Gorman (Fr. • Belvidere, Ill.) fifth on the vault with 9.175 and Ryan Metzger (Sr. • Hanover Park, Ill.) sixth on the uneven bars with 8.65.

UW-Eau Claire took first place in three categories as Olivia Aschenbrenner scored 9.425 points on the balance beam, Claire Johnson 9.425 on the uneven bars and Danielle Schulzetenberg 9.40 on the vault.

UW-Oshkosh's team score also included 45.525 points on the vault and 43.375 on the uneven bars. UW-Eau Claire's team score featured 45.875 points on the vault, 45.825 on the balance beam, 45.65 in the floor exercise and 44.20 on the uneven bars.

UW-Oshkosh competes at the Hamline University Piper Invitational next Sunday (Feb. 27) in St. Paul, Minn.
