Titans Take Fourth At Gershon/McLellan Invitational
The UW-Oshkosh women's gymnastics team scored a season-high
44.075 points on the uneven bars as it finished fourth at the
Gershon/McLellan Invitational held Friday (Feb. 4) in La
Crosse.
Host UW-La Crosse won the five-team meet with 186.125 overall
points, while Winona State University (Minn.) placed second with
181.05. UW-Stout finished third with 179.325 points, UW-Oshkosh
fourth with 179.05 and Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) fifth with
178.075. UW-Oshkosh's overall score also included 45.225 points in
the floor exercise, 45.025 on the vault and 44.725 on the balance
beam.
Stacie Jenkins (Sr. • Peoria, Ariz.) led UW-Oshkosh by
finishing third on the uneven bars with 9.275 points and fifth in
the all-around competition with 36.325. She also placed 13th on
both the balance beam and in the floor exercise with scores of
8.925 and 9.275, respectively.
UW-Oshkosh had five of the top 18 finishers on the balance beam as
Jill Lindberg (Jr. • Meridian, Idaho) placed fifth with 9.15
points, Khrystyna Lychagina (Fr. • River Grove, Ill.) 11th
with 9.075, Jenkins 13th, Paula Delsart (Sr. • Green Bay) 16th
with 8.825 and Dana Herr (Fr. • Swanton, Ohio) 18th with
8.75.
The Titans had four top 15 finishers on the uneven bars as Jenkins
ranked third, Ryan Metzger (Sr. • Hanover Park, Ill.) eighth
with 9.075 points, Abby Zubella (So. • Appleton) 10th with
8.975 and Alexandria Klier (Fr. • Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.)
15th with 8.75.
UW-Oshkosh also received an eighth-place score of 9.375 in the
floor exercise from Zubella, a 16th-place mark of 9.10 in the floor
exercise from Brittany Fellman (Sr. • St. Cloud, Minn.) and an
18th-place value of 9.15 on the vault from Herr.
UW-La Crosse's Christa Booman won the all-around title with 37.175
points. She also won the uneven bars with 9.70 points and tied
Naomi DeLara of UW-Stout for first place on the balance beam with
9.65.
Other event winners were DeLara in the floor exercise with 9.675
points and Jena Jondahl of Winona State University on the vault
with 9.525.
UW-Oshkosh competes at UW-Stout's Zuerlein Invitational on Friday
(Feb. 11) in Menomonie.
