Warriors Hand Titans First Loss Of Season

With both teams recording season-best scores, Winona State University (Minn.) edged UW-Oshkosh, 176.725-175.700, in a women's gymnastics meet held Tuesday (Jan. 26) in Winona, Minn.

Winona State University compiled its overall score on 44.85 points on the vault, 44.575 on the balance beam, 43.875 in the floor exercise and 43.425 on the uneven bars.

UW-Oshkosh, which suffered its first loss of the season, reached its overall value by counting 44.45 points on the uneven bars, 44.10 in the floor exercise, 43.625 on the vault and 43.525 on the balance beam.

UW-Oshkosh's Stacie Jenkins (Jr. • Peoria, Ariz.) posted the highest mark in three categories and finished second in another. She won the all-around competition with a score of 36.40, the floor exercise with a figure of 9.10 and the balance beam with a worth of 9.30. Jenkins placed second on the uneven bars with a score of 9.125.

Anna Gleason and Heather Rummelein led Winona State University with winning scores of 9.20 on the uneven bars and 9.50 on the vault, respectively.

Stefanie Armstrong (Sr. • Kennesaw, Ga.) had three top-four finishes for the Titans. She placed third on both the vault and in the all-around competition with scores of 8.95 and 34.225, respectively. Armstrong finished fourth in the floor exercise with a measure of 8.825.

Jill Lindberg (So. • Meridian, Idaho), Ryan Metzger (Jr. • Hanover Park, Ill.) and Abby Zubella (Fr. • Appleton) tallied additional second-place finishes for the Titans. Lindberg tallied 9.05 points on the balance beam, Metzger 9.00 on the vault and Zubella 8.95 in the floor exercise.

UW-Oshkosh also had Mary Ann Oehlerking (So. • Hawthorn Woods, Ill.) finish third and Darlene Herrmann (Sr. • Newton, N.J.) fourth on the uneven bars with scores of 9.00 and 8.975, respectively.

UW-Oshkosh battles Winona State University and NCAA Division I Illinois State University on Sunday (Jan. 31) in Normal, Ill.
