Depth Prevails As Titans Knock Off Blue Devils
UW-Stout's Naomi DeLara and Meghan Hargens combined to capture
all of the first-place finishes, but UW-Oshkosh's depth prevailed
as the Titans defeated the Blue Devils, 169.350-165.225, in a
women's gymnastics meet held Friday (Jan. 22) in Kolf Sports
Center.
Hargens was a triple winner as she posted first-place scores of
36.725 in the all-around competition, 9.50 in the floor exercise
and 9.175 on the uneven bars. DeLara took top honors on the balance
beam with a score of 9.55 and the vault with a mark of 9.475.
Stacie Jenkins (Jr. • Peoria, Ariz.) earned three
second-place finishes for UW-Oshkosh after performing to scores of
35.50 in the all-around competition, 9.325 in the floor exercise
and 9.225 on the vault.
UW-Oshkosh had four of the top five listings on the uneven bars as
Darlene Herrmann (Sr. • Newton, N.J.) placed second with a
score of 8.425, Jenkins third at 8.35, Mary Ann Oehlerking (So.
• Hawthorn Woods, Ill.) fourth at 8.05 and Abby Zubella (Fr.
• Appleton) fifth at 8.025.
The Titans took the third through eighth places on the balance
beam, with Jill Lindberg (So. • Meridian, Idaho) leading the
way with a third-place score of 8.45. Stefanie Armstrong (Sr.
• Kennesaw, Ga.) finished fourth at 8.45 and Oehlerking and
Gretchen Fackelman (Sr. • St. Louis, Mo.) fifth at 8.125.
UW-Oshkosh received a third-place score of 9.075 from Zubella and
a fifth-place mark of 8.85 from Lindberg in the floor exercise.
UW-Oshkosh totaled a season-high 43.90 points in the floor
exercise. The Titans also tallied 44.275 points on the vault,
41.225 on the balance beam and 39.95 on the uneven bars. UW-Stout
scored 45.15 points on the vault, 44.10 in the floor exercise,
39.925 on the balance beam and 36.05 on the uneven bars.
UW-Oshkosh treks to Winona State University on Tuesday (Jan.
26).
