Titans Place Third At Zuerlein Invitational

The UW-Oshkosh women’s gymnastics team placed third with its second-highest score of the season at the John Zuerlein Invitational held Friday (Feb. 12) in Menomonie.

UW-La Crosse won the four-team meet with 181.55 points, while host UW-Stout finished second with 177.00, UW-Oshkosh third with 176.375 and UW-Eau Claire fourth with 174.125.
UW-Oshkosh’s overall score included 45.20 points on the vault, 44.725 in the floor exercise, 43.625 on the uneven bars and 42.825 on the balance beam.

The Titans owned a pair of second-place finishers as Stacie Jenkins (Jr. • Peoria, Ariz.) compiled 35.275 points in the all-around competition and Mary Ann Oehlerking (So. • Hawthorn Woods, Ill.) 8.975 on the uneven bars. Jenkins also ranked fifth on the uneven bars with a score of 8.925, eighth in the floor exercise with a figure of 9.175 and 10th on the vault with a value of 9.175.

UW-Oshkosh’s Stefanie Armstrong (Sr. • Kennesaw, Ga.) finished third in the all-around competition with a sum of 34.50 points. Armstrong also listed 10th on the uneven bars with a score of 8.625 and shared 11th place with teammate Ryan Metzger (Jr. • Hanover Park, Ill.) on the vault with a mark of 9.125.

Other UW-Oshkosh results featured Jill Lindberg (So. • Meridian, Idaho) finishing sixth on the balance beam with a score of 9.125, Abby Zubella (Fr. • Appleton) eighth on the uneven bars with a mark of 8.65, Paula Delsart (Jr. • Green Bay) and Gretchen Fackelman (Sr. • St. Louis, Mo.) ninth on the balance beam with counts of 8.70 and Lindberg and Zubella 10th in the floor exercise with amounts of 8.95.

Meghan Hargens of UW-Stout won the all-around competition with 37.975 points. She also notched winning scores of 9.60 on the uneven bars and in the floor exercise.

Naomi DeLara of UW-Stout and Gabi Hooper of UW-La Crosse posted first-place scores of 9.625 on the balance beam and 9.525 on the vault, respectively.

UW-Oshkosh hosts UW-Whitewater on Friday (Feb. 19) in Kolf Sports Center.
