Johnsen Tabbed As Head Women’s Golf Coach

OSHKOSH, Wis.- Jeff Johnsen was named the eighth head women's golf coach in UW-Oshkosh history on Wednesday (May 15) as announced by Assistant Chancellor, Athletics Darryl Sims following a national search.

"We are excited to announce the hiring of Jeff Johnsen," Sims stated on Wednesday. "His wealth of coaching experience at the helm of the Bay Port High School girl's golf program excites us in the athletics department with consistent conference titles, individual state titles and trips to the WIAA State Tournament. He is committed to creating an atmosphere that will encourage our student-athletes to grow as members of the team, the university and the community at large.

Johnsen has spent the previous eight seasons coaching girl's golf at Bay Port High School, accumulating seven Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Association sectional titles which qualified the Pirates for the WIAA State Tournament, six regional titles and six straight Fox River Classic Conference championships. Johnsen coached a student-athlete to three consecutive individual state titles from 2018-2020 and in 2021, Bay Port was the state runner-up by just one stroke.

"I am very excited for my new challenge of coaching at the next level in golf," Johnsen said, "I am eager to get to work right away, making UW-Oshkosh a perennial contender in the WIAC.  I am looking forward to building and maintaining relationships with our women student-athletes, providing them with an amazing experience as a Titan. I would like to thank Darryl Sims and Assistant Director of Athletics Abby Gildernick for the opportunity they have provided me in coaching at UWO."

Johnsen will begin his duties on July 1.
