Titans Win Marian University Golf Invitational

Led by the fourth-place finishes of Nikki Differt and Megan Footit, UW-Oshkosh captured the seven-team Marian University Women's Golf Invitational held Saturday (April 10) at the Whispering Springs Golf Club in Fond du Lac.

UW-Oshkosh won the team competition by one stroke over second-place Lake Forest College (Ill.). The Titans totaled 359 strokes (71-over-par) during the 18-hole tournament and the Foresters 360.

UW-Stevens Point finished third in the team standings with 364 strokes while UW-Platteville placed fourth with 387, St. Norbert College fifth with 390, Marian University sixth with 409 and Concordia University Wisconsin seventh with 410.

Differt and Footit placed fourth among the tournament's 39 golfers with 87 strokes (15-over-par) apiece. Differt achieved her score with the help of two birdies and four pars and Footit her result with the aid of five pars.

Lake Forest College's Chloe Morrisey earned the individual title with an even-par score of 72 strokes. Bree Downie of UW-Stevens Point and Amanda Lee of Lake Forest College shared second place with 81 strokes apiece.

UW-Oshkosh also had Margherite Pettenuzzo finish ninth with 92 strokes, Ava Downie 10th with 93, Lauryn Davis 19th with 97 and Gwyn Golembiewski 36th with 121. Pettenuzzo had a team-best seven pars while Davis and Downie had six each.

The Titans compete Friday and Saturday (April 16-17) at the UW-Whitewater Invitational. The 36-hole tournament will be held at the Riverside Golf Course in Janesville.
