Differt Captures First Place At Mad Dawg Invitational

Nikki Differt won the individual title by one stroke as five members of the UW-Oshkosh women's golf team tuned up for next weekend's WIAC Championship by competing at the UW-Stevens Point Mad Dawg Invitational held Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 28-29) at the Stevens Point Country Club.

Differt totaled 166 strokes (22-over-par) to earn her first career victory. She reached her overall score by totaling 18-hole figures of 81 on Saturday and 85 on Sunday. Differt's score on Saturday was the lowest 18-hole round recorded by the tournament's 20 golfers.

UW-Platteville's Markie Ash finished second to Differt with 167 strokes and UW-Whitewater's Billie Jo Parker third with 170. UW-Stevens Point's Brooke Tuszka placed fourth with 173 strokes and UW-Whitewater's Madison LaPaz fifth with 176.

In addition to Differt, UW-Oshkosh had Sophia Mazurek finish 12th with 193 strokes, Megan Footit 13th with 198, Claire Hamburg 16th with 215 and Mackenzie Retzlaff 18th with 221.

UW-Platteville edged UW-Stevens Point, 724-731, for the team title.

UW-Oshkosh and UW-Whitewater golfers competed as individuals, thus, no team score was compiled for the Titans and Warhawks.

The 54-hole WIAC Championship will be held Friday through Sunday (Oct. 4-6) at the Reedsburg Country Club in Reedsburg.
