Titans Complete Regular Season With Ninth-Place Finish

UW-Oshkosh concluded the regular-season portion of its 2018-19 women's golf schedule with a ninth-place finish at the Augustana College Viking Invitational held Sunday (April 28) in Rock Island, Ill.

The 36-hole tournament was reduced to 18 holes after Saturday's (April 27) competition at the Highland Springs Golf Course was cancelled due to inclement weather.

UW-Oshkosh, which competed without several of its top golfers, finished the tournament with 358 strokes (66-over-par). The Titans listed 12 strokes behind William Penn University's (Iowa) eighth-place score of 346.

UW-Whitewater took first place among the 13 teams with 316 strokes (24-over-par) while Augustana College placed second with 323 and Carl Sandburg College (Ill.) third with 330.

Freshman Margherite Pettenuzzo led UW-Oshkosh with her 13th-place score of 81 strokes (eight-over-par). The Titans also had senior Ireland Dunne finish 37th with 88 strokes (15-over-par).

Other UW-Oshkosh results featured Sophia Mazurek finishing 45th with 91 strokes, Mackenzie Retzlaff 55th with 98 and Claire Hamburg 66th with 107.

Shelby Keen of Knox College (Ill.) captured the tournament's individual title. She compiled 73 strokes (even par) to defeat 71 other golfers.

Maddie McCue of UW-Whitewater and Jaeden Workman of Carl Sandburg College tied for second place with 76 strokes (three-over-par).
