Paul Finishes Second At UW-Whitewater Spring Fling

UW-Oshkosh's McKenzie Paul totaled just 77 strokes over the final 18 holes to finish second at the UW-Whitewater Women's Golf Spring Fling held Friday and Saturday (April 18-19) at the Delbrook Golf Club in Delavan.

Paul, who was in fifth place after Friday's competition, concluded the 36-hole tournament with 158 strokes, 12-over par. She matched par 24 times to lead all 50 golfers.

McKenna Prestigiacomo of UW-Stevens Point won the individual title with 156 strokes. Rachel Oberbeide of North Central College (Ill.) finished third with 161 strokes, while Sammie Leibham of UW-Whitewater placed fourth with 164 and both Montana Leep and Morgan Leep of Hope College (Mich.) fifth with 165.

UW-Oshkosh also Taylor Wenzel finish 32nd with 187 strokes, Sarah Sheldon 33rd with 188 and Samantha Kuik 37th with 190.

Hope College captured the team title with 677 strokes, while UW-Whitewater finished second with 687, North Central College (Ill.) third with 699, Wheaton College (Ill.) fourth with 704 and Carthage College fifth with 712. UW-Oshkosh posted 18-hole rounds of 366 and 357 to finish sixth with 723 strokes.

UW-Oshkosh competes next Saturday and Sunday (April 26-27) at the Augustana College Invitational in Rock Island, Ill.
