Titans Open Spring Season

UW-Oshkosh opened its spring women's golf schedule with a 15th-place finish at the Illinois Wesleyan University Spring Fling held Saturday and Sunday (April 13-14) at Ironwood Golf Course in Normal, Ill.

UW-Oshkosh totaled 740 shots during the 36-hole tournament to finish five behind 14th-place Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (Ind.). The Titans scored a 355 on Sunday, 30 fewer than Saturday's figure.

Washington University (Mo.) won the 19-team event with 622 strokes. DePauw University (Ind.) finished second with 625, while Illinois Wesleyan University placed third with 626, UW-Stout fourth with 654 and Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) fifth with 660.

McKenzie Paul led UW-Oshkosh with her 25th-place finish. Paul totaled 167 shots, including 82 on Sunday.

The Titans also had Taylor Wenzel finish 73rd with 185 strokes, Samantha Kuik 78th with 189 and Sarah Sheldon 85th with 199.

Olivia Lugar of Washington University and Katie Klosterman of Illinois Wesleyan University shared first place among the 95 golfers with scores of 150. Paige Gooch and Kelsey Smith of DePauw University tied for third place with 153.

UW-Oshkosh competes next weekend (April 18-19) at the UW-Whitewater Spring Invitational in Delavan.
