Titans Come In Seventh At WIAC Championship

Theresa Henke (Jr. • Wisconsin Rapids) shot two rounds in the 80s to finish 16th at the WIAC Women's Golf Championship on Friday-Sunday (Oct. 5-7) in Wisconsin Rapids.

UW-Stout overcame an 11-stroke deficit on the final day to win the title with a team score of 1,024. UW-Whitewater listed second in the 54-hole event with 1,025 strokes, while UW-Eau Claire was right behind in third with 1,026.

UW-River Falls claimed fourth place at 1,073, along with UW-Platteville in fifth at 1,088, UW-Stevens Point in sixth at 1,130 and UW-Oshkosh in seventh at 1,145.

Henke carded an 88 on both Friday and Saturday en route to her 268 for 16th place. Next in line for the Titans was Taylor Wenzel (So. • Franklin), who used 287 strokes for 34th. Coree Georgenson (Sr. • Stevens Point) came in 36th with her total of 292.

UW-Oshkosh's other results featured Sarah Sheldon (Jr. • Janesville) taking 40th with a 300, Emily Mallek (So. • Plover) in 42nd with a 306 and Amanda Bingham (Sr. • Mukwonago) in 46th with a 315.

Brittany McNett-Emmerich (UW-Stout) posted a 12-shot victory with her 234 (+18). UW-Eau Claire's Catherine Wagner scored a 246 for second place, as Kate Engler (UW-Eau Claire) marked a 248 for third and Nicole Westcott (UW-Whitewater) a 250 for fourth. A total of 48 golfers finished the event.

Bull's Eye Country Club played to a par of 72 at 5,819 yards.
