Warhawks Spoil Titans’ Season Opener

Results

UW-Whitewater owned the top eight scores as it defeated the UW-Oshkosh women's golf team, 344-415, on Saturday (Sept. 1) at the Oshkosh Country Club.

The Warhawks' Nicole Westcott earned medalist honors with 80 strokes, seven-over par. She was followed by teammates Sammie Leibham with 87 strokes and Claudia Rhein with 88. Sarah Bregant and Alexa Snyder shared fourth place with 89 strokes.

UW-Oshkosh was led in its 2012-13 season opener by Amanda Bingham (Sr. • Mukwonago). Bingham totaled 99 strokes to share eighth place with UW-Whitewater's Kate Winkler.

UW-Oshkosh also had Sarah Sheldon (Jr. • Janesville) finish 10th with 100 strokes, Emily Mallek (So. • Plover) with 102, Coree Georgenson (Sr. • Stevens Point) 13th with 106, Taylor Wenzel (So. • Franklin) 14th with 107 and Samantha Atkielski (So. • Pleasant Prairie) 16th with 111.

The Titans will host the UW-Oshkosh Invitational next Saturday (Sept. 8) and Sunday (Sept. 9) at the Oshkosh Country Club. Scheduled to attend the event are UW-Oshkosh's WIAC opponents UW-Platteville, UW-Stevens Point and UW-Whitewater.
