Titans Begin Season With Second-Place Showing
Four players posted a top-seven finish as the UW-Oshkosh women's
golf team placed second among three teams on Friday (Sept. 2) at
the Oshkosh Country Club.
Ripon College boasted the top two individuals and won the meet
with a four-player total of 371 strokes. UW-Oshkosh followed with a
team score of 385, while St. Norbert College came in third with
393.
Ripon College's Amanda Peterson closed with 39 strokes on the back
nine to mark a winning score of 87. Jenny Donohue of Ripon College
placed second with 90 strokes, while Theresa Henke (So. •
Wisconsin Rapids) of UW-Oshkosh finished third with 91 and Kathleen
Geraghty of St. Norbert College fourth with 92. The course played
to a par of 73.
UW-Oshkosh owned both fifth-place finishers as Sarah Sheldon (So.
• Janesville) and Kim Sippl (Sr. • Omro) counted 93
strokes. The Titans' Taylor Wenzel (Fr. • Franklin) finished
seventh with 96.
UW-Oshkosh also had Amanda Bingham (Jr. • Mukwonago) rank
10th with 98 strokes, Emily Mallek (Fr. • Plover) 13th with
103, Samantha Atkielski (Fr. • Pleasant Prairie) 15th with
107, Coree Georgenson (Jr. • Stevens Point) and Andrea
Kirchenwitz (Fr. • Sheboygan) 16th with 108 and Lisa Breger
(Fr. • Hortonville). 18th with 110. A total of 20 golfers took
part in the Titans' season-opening event.
The Titans will host the UW-Oshkosh Invitational on Saturday and
Sunday (Sept. 10-11) at Oshkosh Country Club.
