Titans Place Sixth At UW-Whitewater Spring Fling

Kim Sippl (Sr. • Omro) tied for 16th place as the UW-Oshkosh women's golf team concluded its 2011-12 season at the UW-Whitewater Spring Fling held Friday (April 20) in Janesville.

UW-Oshkosh totaled 388 strokes over 18 holes to place sixth in the eight-team meet. UW-Whitewater took first place with 336 strokes, while UW-Stevens Point finished second with 349, Carthage College third with 356, Carroll University fourth with 366 and UW-Platteville fifth with 382.

Sippl and UW-Platteville's Kellsey Welter shared 16th place with 90 strokes. Sippl tallied 46 strokes on the front nine holes and 44 on the back.

The Titans also had Sarah Sheldon (So. • Janesville) finish 29th with 97 strokes and Theresa Henke (So. • Wisconsin Rapids) 32nd with 99. UW-Oshkosh's Coree Georgenson (Jr. • Stevens Point) and Andrea Kirchenwitz (Fr. • Sheboygan) tied for 36th place with 102 strokes.

UW-Whitewater owned the top two finishers as Claudia Rhien placed first with 80 strokes and Nicole Westcott second with 81. Muriel McIntyre of Concordia University Wisconsin ranked third with 83 strokes.

The Riverside Golf Club played to a par of 73.
