Titans Swing To Fourth Place At UW-Platteville Invitational

Kim Sippl (Jr. • Omro) had the second-lowest score of the final day to vault into fourth place as the UW-Oshkosh women's golf team took fourth at the UW-Platteville Invitational held Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 25-26) at the House on the Rock Resort in Spring Green.

UW-Stevens Point boasted the top three individuals as it cruised to the team title. The Pointers’ total of 686 strokes easily bested the 743 of second-place squads Augustana College (Ill.) and UW-Platteville. The Titans compiled a 36-hole mark of 759, followed by Clarke University (Iowa) in fifth at 790, Augustana College’s B unit in sixth at 825 and UW-Platteville’s second group at 870.

Mary Welsch earned a four-shot victory with a two-day score of 164. Her teammates, Danelle Olson (168) and McKenna Prestigiacomo (169), filled out the podium. Sippl carded an 83 on Sunday, which was only bettered by Olson’s 82. Including her 88 from Saturday, Sippl took fourth place at 171, as UW-Platteville’s Tricia Pawelski stood fifth at 175.

The Titans had two other players achieve top-20 results. Amanda Bingham (So. • Mukwonago) put together a 192 for 16th place, and Alyssa Chase (So. • Sun Prairie) took the 19th position with her 195. UW-Oshkosh's Sarah Sheldon (Fr. • Janesville) also notched a 201 (22nd) and Coree Georgenson posted a 243 (33rd) to round out the scoring.

A total of 35 players competed on the par-72 layout that covered 5,817 yards.

UW-Oshkosh will tee it up next at the UW-Stevens Point Invitational next Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 2-3).
