Titans Take Sixth Place At UW-Whitewater Invitational
Kim Sippl (Jr. • Omro) scored a top-10
finish with her 87 to lead the UW-Oshkosh golf team to a
sixth-place finish at the UW-Whitewater Fall Invite on Friday
(Sept. 24) in Janesville.
The host Warhawks won the team title with an 18-hole total of 339
strokes (+47). UW-Stevens Point took second with a 346, followed by
Robert Morris University (Ill.) in third with a 356. Carroll
University scored a four-player tally of 364 for fourth place, as
UW-Platteville marked a 368 and the Titans a 377 for sixth
place.
Melissa Ellis of UW-Whitewater shot a 79 and won the playoff to
claim the individual title. Robert Morris University’s Brooke
Melvin also carded a 79 for second place, while the Warhawks’
Melanie Helgeson turned in an 83 for third. Five players fired an
84 to earn the fourth position, including Danelle Olson and McKenna
Pretigiacomo of UW-Stevens Point.
UW-Oshkosh had a pair of others record a double-digit total.
Alyssa Chase (So. • Sun Prairie) used 93 shots on the par-73
layout to finish 23rd, and Sarah Sheldon (Fr. • Janesville)
marked a 96 to take 26th place.
Other Titans among the 49-golfer field were Coree Georgenson (So.
• Stevens Point), who placed 37th with a 101, and Amanda
Bingham (So. • Mukwonago), who used 109 strokes to finish
44th.
