Titans Notch Fifth Place In Own Invitational
UW-Stevens Point owned the three best
individual scores as it captured the team title of the UW-Oshkosh
Women's Golf Invitational held Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 11-12) at
the Oshkosh Country Club.
UW-Stevens Point won the 36-hole competition with 674 strokes,
90-over-par. UW-Whitewater finished second in the seven-team meet
with 681 strokes, while UW-Platteville placed third with 718,
Carroll University fourth with 724, UW-Oshkosh fifth with 757,
Ripon College sixth with 762 and St. Norbert College seventh with
810.
UW-Stevens Point's Danelle Olson topped all players with 164
strokes, 18-over-par. The Pointers also had Mary Welch and McKenna
Pretigiacomo tie for second place with 167 strokes.
Rounding out the top five golfers were fourth-place Mary Donohue
of UW-Whitewater with 169 strokes and fifth-place Tricia Pawelski
of UW-Platteville with 170.
UW-Oshkosh was led by Kim Sippl's (Jr. • Omro) 11th-place
score of 177. The Titans also had Alyssa Chase (So. • Sun
Prairie) finish 18th with 187 strokes, Amanda Bingham (So. •
Mukwonago) 21st with 189, Sarah Sheldon (Fr. • Janesville)
27th with 197, Theresa Henke (Fr. • Wisconsin Rapids) 28th
with 198, Kailee Wahler (Fr. • Twin Lakes) 36th with 212 and
Coree Georgenson (So. • Stevens Point) 37th with 214.
A total of 40 golfers competed in the tournament.
UW-Oshkosh travels to Berlin to compete at
the Ripon College Invitational. The event begins Saturday (Sept.
18) and concludes on Sunday (Sept. 19) at the Mascoutin Country
Club.
