Titans Finish Sixth At UW-Stevens Point Mad Dawg Invitational

Five of six Titans improved during their final round as the UW-Oshkosh women's golf team took sixth place at the UW-Stevens Point Mad Dawg Invitational on Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 2-3) in Stevens Point.

There were only three scores in the 70s all weekend, with UW-Whitewater posting two of them on Sunday to capture the team title. The Warhawks amassed 659 strokes (+75) in the 36-hole event to best UW-Stevens Point’s mark of 676 and UW-Platteville’s figure of 708. UW-Stout followed in the fourth position at 716, along with UW-River Falls in fifth at 741 and UW-Oshkosh at 743.

UW-Whitewater’s Melissa Ellis fired an 81 and a 78 to win the individual title at +13. Teammate Mary Donohue had a 79 and UW-Stout’s Becca Eggers a 77 as both tied for second with 160 shots. The Pointers’ Danelle Olson placed fourth with her 162, while Tricia Pawelski (165) of UW-Platteville rounded out the top five.

Kim Sippl (Jr. • Omro) was the leader after a Saturday 80 before finishing in seventh place with 168 strokes. Sarah Sheldon (Fr. • Janesville) had a seven-shot upgrade from round one to two, taking 20th with a 187. Amanda Bingham (So. • Mukwonago) got nine better on Sunday to finish 25th at 193, while Kailee Wahler (Fr. • Twin Lakes) cut 16 from her Saturday score to tally a 194 for 26th place. The remaining Titans were Alyssa Chase (So. • Sun Prairie) and Coree Georgenson (So. • Stevens Point), who each carded a 196 to list 29th.

The Stevens Point Country Club played to a par of 73 while spanning 5,835 yards. A total of 35 golfers from six schools competed in the meet.
