Wichman Finishes Third, Titans Fifth In Own Invitational

Emily Wichman (Sr. • Neenah) was UW-Oshkosh's top individual finisher as the Titans placed fifth in their own women's golf invitational held Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 12-13) at the Oshkosh Country Club.

UW-Whitewater won the 36-hole, seven-team tournament with 687 strokes, 103-over-par. The Warhawks counted 339 strokes on Saturday and 348 on Sunday.

Carroll University finished second in the team standings with 707 strokes, while Davenport University (Mich.) placed third with 738, UW-Platteville fourth with 751, UW-Oshkosh fifth with 782, St. Norbert College sixth with 783 and Ripon College seventh with 814. The Titans tallied 400 strokes on Saturday and 382 on Sunday.

Chelsea Davis of UW-Whitewater took individual medalist honors with 159 strokes, 13-over-par. Caitlin Duval of Davenport University finished second with 163 strokes, Wichman and Brittany Puta of Carroll University third with 170 and Traci Vanderloop of Carroll University fifth with 171. Wichman achieved her score by taking 87 shots on Saturday and 83 on Sunday.

Other UW-Oshkosh results had Alyssa Chase (Fr. • Sun Prairie) finish 28th with 199 strokes, Emily Clark (So. • Janesville) 30th with 202, Coree Georgenson (Fr. • Stevens Point) 35th with 211 and Amanda Bingham (Fr. • Mukwonago) 41st with 224. The tournament featured 45 golfers.

UW-Oshkosh returns to action on Sept.19-20 at the Ripon College Invitational in Berlin.
