Titans Defeat Green Knights, Red Hawks In Season Opener

Alyssa Chase (Fr. • Sun Prairie) finished first and Emily Wichman (Sr. • Neenah) second in the individual competition to lead the UW-Oshkosh women's golf team to victories over Ripon College and St. Norbert College on Tuesday (Sept. 1) at the Oshkosh Country Club.

UW-Oshkosh won its inaugural event of the 2009 season with 392 strokes, 100-over-par. St. Norbert College placed second in the team standings with 409 strokes and Ripon College third with 411.

The individual title went to Chase as she edged Wichman by one stroke. Chase won the 18-hole meet with 92 strokes, 19-over-par, while Wichman finished second with 93.

Amanda Holdshoe and Amanda Peterson of Ripon College tied for third place with 99 strokes.

Finishing fifth with 100 strokes were Coree Georgenson (Fr. • Stevens Point) of UW-Oshkosh and Jennifer Ackman and Andrea Liebelt of St. Norbert College.

UW-Oshkosh's Emily Clark (So. • Janesville) finished 11th among the 16 golfers with 107 strokes.

The Titans return to action when they host the UW-Oshkosh Invitational on Sept. 12-13 at the Oshkosh County Club.
