Titans Picked to Finish Fourth in WIAC Preseason Poll; 2022-23 Outlook
OSHKOSH, Wis.—Coming off one of the most successful seasons in program history, the UW-Oshkosh Titans women's basketball program are set with a mixture of returning talent and incoming talent for the 2022-23 season.
Head coach Brad Fischer brings back eight letterwinners from last year's Elite Eight team in Jenna Jorgensen, Kennedy Osterman, Ava Douglas, Kayce Vaile, Allison Forney, Jaden Kolinski, Julia Magnuson and Mackenzie Tlachac. Jorgensen and Osterman combined to make 70 3-pointers for the Titans a year ago.
The Titans are picked to finish fourth in the 2022-23 preseason poll, released by the WIAC on Oct. 27.
The 14-game conference slate will begin with games on Nov. 30 and Dec. 3, with games resuming after the holidays on Jan. 4. The top-six teams in the league standings will qualify for the WIAC Tournament (presented by Culver's). The event will be held Feb. 21, 23, and 25, with all games hosted by the higher-seeded team.
The Titans finished in third place last season, with a conference record of 7-4.
Season Outlook
The Titans begin the year with an exhibition game at NCAA Division I member UW-Green Bay on Oct. 26 before getting the regular season underway at Lakeland University on Nov. 9.
UW-Oshkosh will be playing its sixth exhibition contest against an in-state Division I program for the sixth time in the past nine seasons. Previously, the Titans played UW-Green Bay in 2019-20, 2016-17 and 2014-15; and University of Wisconsin in 2018-19 and 2021-22 during Fischer's 11-year tenure.
Other highlights of the UW-Oshkosh 2022-23 schedule include tournaments in Eau Claire on Nov. 11-12; Rock Island, Ill., on Nov. 18-19; and Daytona Beach, Fla., on Dec. 19-20. The Titans, whose home opener is Nov. 15 against Edgewood College, also host the BSN Winter Classic on Dec. 29-30 in Oshkosh Arena.

2021-22 Recap
The Titans advanced to the Elite Eight a year ago after knocking off three successive nationally ranked teams. UW-Oshkosh, which received an at-large berth into the Division III Championship field as an unranked squad, upset the No. 18, No. 4 and No. 10 teams in the poll en route to reaching the national quarterfinals for the first time since 1999.
UW-Oshkosh, the winner of nine combined Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) regular season and postseason titles over the previous nine years, concluded last season with a 22-7 record and ranked 12th in the country.
History of 20+ Win Seasons
The Titans women's basketball program has won at least 20 games each of the past nine full seasons. UW-Oshkosh's streak of 20 or more wins on the women's side is the second longest in WIAC history.
Former Titan Leah Porath signed a professional contract to play overseas on Oct. 12. Porath, the most decorated player in Oshkosh history, will play with the Martini Sparks of the Vrouwen Basketball League, based in the Netherlands.
Porath was named an NCAA Division III All-American on six occasions and was a finalist for the 2022 Jostens Trophy. Porath received All-America accolades in 2020, 2021 and 2022 from both the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and D3hoops.com.
Fischer's Success
Fischer achieved his 200th career win as the Titans head coaching in 2021-22.
