Titans Receive NCAA Statistical Champion Award

The UW-Oshkosh women's basketball team finished the 2019-20 season as the NCAA Division III leader in fewest turnovers per game.

UW-Oshkosh, which committed 11.9 turnovers per game this season, led the country for the second time in the past three years. The Titans, who also paced Division III in turnovers per game in 2017-18, finished second in the statistical category in 2016-17, third in 2015-16 and 10th in 2018-19.

The Titans' 11.9 turnovers per contest listed 17th among the 1,091 NCAA programs across all three divisions. Division I's Florida Gulf Coast University and Division II's University of Sioux Falls (S.D.) paced the NCAA at 10.5 turnovers per game.

UW-Oshkosh concluded the 2019-20 campaign with a 20-10 record and ranked 21st in Division III by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. The Titans, who reached 20 wins for the eighth consecutive season under head coach Brad Fischer, advanced to the third round of this year's Division III Championship before the tournament was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Titans, who made their third Sweet 16 appearance in the last four seasons, secured an automatic berth into the national tournament by clinching the program's sixth overall and second straight WIAC postseason title. UW-Oshkosh, the first fourth-seeded team to reach the WIAC Championship final, went on to set conference records with 220 made 3-pointers and 669 3-point attempts.

UW-Oshkosh committed 10 or fewer turnovers on 11 occasions this season, including a season-best four during an 85-42 victory at Alma College (Mich.) on Nov. 25 and five in a 64-47 win at UW-River Falls on Jan. 18.

The 2019-20 Titans were also 20th in Division III in fewest turnovers (357), 26th in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.06) and 27th in 3-point field goals made (220).

Individually, UW-Oshkosh's Olivia Campbell led Division III in minutes played (1,043:18) while ranking 21st in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.02) and 38th in assists (121).
