Kitzke Chosen As WIAC Player Of The Week

Guard Katie Kitzke (Sr. • South Milwaukee) has been selected as the WIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season. Her latest award was for contests played Feb. 4-10.

Kitzke averaged 18 points as UW-Oshkosh remained in the WIAC title chase with wins of 56-53 over 16th-ranked UW-Stevens Point and 66-64 over UW-River Falls.

Kitzke totaled 36 points by making 11-of-24 shots (46 percent) from the field and 9-of-10 tosses (90 percent) from the free throw line. She made 5-of-11 three-point shots (46 percent) while compiling five assists, four rebounds and two steals.

In UW-Oshkosh's win over UW-Stevens Point on Feb. 6, Kitzke's 27-foot shot with three seconds left provided the margin of victory. She scored 14 points against the Pointers while totaling three rebounds and two assists. It was the Titans' first win over UW-Stevens Point since the 2007-08 season.

During the Titans' victory over UW-River Falls on Feb. 9, Kitzke made five free throws in the final 47 seconds to clinch the win. She scored 22 points against the Falcons while recording three assists and one steal.

Guard Quardell Young of UW-Whitewater was named the WIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week.
