UW-Oshkosh shot 63 percent during the second half to pull away for its 62-47 women's basketball victory at UW-River Falls on Saturday (Dec. 8).

Katie Kitzke (Sr. • South Milwaukee) tallied 13 of her game-high 19 points during the final period, when the Titans held the Falcons to 25 percent shooting (7-28). Megan Wenig (Sr. • Oshkosh) tacked on 15 points, four rebounds and four assists in the contest.

The score was tied five times during the first nine minutes of play. Kitzke converted two lay-ups and a pair of free throws to make it 10-10.

Midway through the half, UW-Oshkosh (5-2/1-1 WIAC) went on a 9-0 run that featured a lay-in and three-pointer from Ashley Neustifter (Fr. • Oshkosh). The triple gave the Titans a 21-12 cushion with 8:57 on the clock.

The Falcons (6-2/1-1 WIAC) got four quick points by Jessie Van Wyhe to close the gap. Brittany Gregorich sank a hoop that tied things at 26 with 15 seconds to play before halftime.

Following a deadlock at 28, UW-Oshkosh went ahead with Heather Conroy's (So. • Wisconsin Dells) jumper and Kitzke's long-distance connection. A three-point play from Sarah Stecker (Jr. • Menasha) increased the lead to 44-35 with 10 minutes left.

A 14-2 streak over the next five minutes put the game out of reach. Kitzke buried two deep jumpers and Stecker put home two lay-ups. Kitzke's bucket made it a 58-39 margin, the largest of the day.

The Titans finished with 51 percent accuracy (24-47) from the field, 43 percent (6-14) from long range and 62 percent at the foul line (8-13). Stecker and Ashley Winterfeldt (Sr. • Hortonville) each tallied seven points, while Neustifter posted five points, six rebounds and three steals. Conroy contributed six assists, four rebounds and three steals.

Tess Lueders marked 15 points, as Van Wyhe finished with 13. UW-River Falls also used six rebounds by Holly Riesselman and three assists from Gregorich. The Falcons shot 33 percent (17-52) overall, 80 percent (12-15) on free throws and 1-of-12 behind the arc (8 percent).
