
Titans Land Record Six All-WIAC First Team Selections
MADISON, Wis.- UW-Oshkosh softball had a program record six to the All-WIAC First Team and eight total mentions when the conference office announced the all-conference list on Wednesday (May 15).
Hannah Ritter (Sr. • Marengo, Ill.) became the third Titan in program history to be named to the first team four times and the first since Katie Koepsel accomplished the feat from 2012-15. Ronessa Stampfli (2005-08) and Nila Gruenewald (1982-85) were the first two four-time All-WIAC First Team members. Ritter, who became the league's all-time hits leader against UW-La Crosse on April 13, currently has 264 hits which sits 16th in NCAA Division III history. She is hitting .435 with 15 doubles and a .497 on-base percentage, all of which rank second in the league. She sits third with 57 hits, fourth with just seven strikeouts on the season and fifth with 34 RBIs and an on-base plus slugging of 1.062. In the field, she has been a part of 15 double plays, the best in the league tied with fellow Titan and 2024 All-WIAC First Team member Haylie Wittman (So. • Kaukauna) and fourth with 243 put outs and a .992 fielding percentage.
Making her third appearance on the All-WIAC First Team is Sydney Nemetz (Jr. • Marinette), who went a league leading 17-2 in 20 starts with 13 complete games and seven shutouts. In 125 innings of work, she allowed 21 earned runs, struck out a league best 145 batters and held them to just a .170 batting average.
Abby Garceau (Jr. • Mishicot) and Morgan Rau (Sr. • Downers Grove, Ill.) each owned a 2022 All-WIAC First Team mention before earning first team honors on Wednesday. Garceau is hitting .317 with 44 hits, three doubles and a triple with 25 runs and 15 RBIs. She also walked 12 times for a .371 on-base and .724 on-base plus slugging percentage. Morgan Rau owns a .358 batting average in 120 at-bats with 15 doubles (second-most in the league) and four home runs. She walked 16 times, owns an on-base plus slugging of 1.023 and stole a base on her only attempt.
Sydney Rau (Sr. • Downers Grove, Ill.) and Wittman each earned their first spots on the All-WIAC First Team. Sydney Rau is 10-for-13 in stolen base attempts so far this season while hitting .405, the fourth best mark in the conference. She currently has 49 hits and an .859 on-base plus slugging. Wittman is hitting .345 with 27 runs, five doubles, a triple and six home runs for a .560 slugging percentage and has been awarded 14 free trips to first base for 30 RBIs and a .409 on-base percentage. She has also recorded 15 double plays to lead the WIAC and owns a .972 fielding percentage.
Sophie Wery (Jr. • Seymour) made her second honorable mention team and third All-WIAC team overall, leading the WIAC with 11 home runs and has caught nine of the 11 runners attempting to steal a base. Zoe Malone (Sr. • Pittsburgh) represented the Titans on the All-Sportsmanship Team.
UW-La Crosse took home the Kwik Trip Position Player of the Year (Kyra Lard) and Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete (Jordyn McCormack) while Morgan Harwood of UW-Stevens Point was named the Kwik Trip Pitcher of the Year and Kwik Trip Newcomer of the Year. The Pointer coaching staff earned the Kwik Trip Coaching Staff of the Year.
The Titans will host the Oshkosh Regional of the NCAA Tournament from Thursday to Saturday (May 16-18) at the UW-Oshkosh Softball Park. They will face the College of Saint Benedict (Minn.) on Thursday at noon before facing either Illinois Wesleyan University or Wartburg College (Iowa) on Friday.
