Titans Finish Weekend With Shutouts Wins Over Eagles, Redhawks

OSHKOSH, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh softball team finished off the homestand sweep with a 12-0 win over Edgewood College and an 8-0 win over Ripon College on Sunday (Mar. 3). Both games ended in five innings.

The Titans hit first against the Eagles and second against the Redhawks.

Hannah Ritter (Sr. • Marengo, Ill.) had an unblemished hitting record on the day, going 3-for-3 with 4 RBI and a walk.

Sydney Nemetz (Jr. • Marinette) threw a one-hit, six-strikeout complete game to open the day.

Mia Crotty (Sr. • Palos Park, Ill.) and Brianna Bougie (Fr. • Oshkosh) followed up with a combined no-hitter against the Redhawks, the 12th in program history. They allowed just one walk and collected five strikeouts.

Ritter doubled in the second inning to send Cali Divito (Jr. • Inverness, Ill.) and Zoe Malone (Sr. • Pittsburgh, Pa.) home.

Oshkosh added five runs in the third inning on three singles and a Ritter sacrifice fly and five more in the fourth on two singles, another Ritter sacrifice fly, and an error.

Brianna Davis (Jr. • Oshkosh) reached home from second on a wild pitch and error for the first run in the second inning, followed up by RBI singles from Malone and Abby Garceau (Jr. • Michicot).

Amanda Martineck (Fr. • Frankfort, Ill.) recorded the Titans' fourth run on another wild pitch in the third inning.

Oshkosh's final four runs of the weekend came in the fifth inning. Haylie Wittman (So. • Kaukauna) sent two runs across the plate with a single to center field before reaching home on a bases-loaded walk. Lizzie Slobodecki (Jr. • Carol Stream, Ill.) scored the eighth run in the following at-bat on another walk.

The Titans will face Concordia University Wisconsin for a doubleheader at the Rec Plex Dome on Friday, March 15 before playing 10 games in seven days in THE Spring Games in Clermont, Fla.
