Titans Sweep Muskies in Season Opener
OSHKOSH, Wis.—The UW-Oshkosh Titans softball team swept Lakeland University in a doubleheader to open the 2023 season.
Abby Garceau scored two runs for the Titans in game two while Wery scored two runs in the first game for the Titans.
The Titans posted a 2-1 score over the Muskies in game one. Morgan Rau hit an RBI double in the second inning as Sophie Wery crossed the plate for the Titans. The Titans kept a 1-0 lead over the Muskies until Wery hit the first home run of the season. Maddie Fink recorded five strikeouts and four hits in five innings pitched for the Titans.
In game two, Hannah Ritter had an RBI single in the first as Garceau scored for the Titans. Wery hit a 2 RBI double in the bottom of the third as Garceau and Caitilin Willams scored. Gabby Buikema hit a 2 RBI single in the fifth as Ritter and Cali Divito put the Titans up by five. The Muskies posted a late comeback, scoring four runs in the seventh as the Titans held on for the sweep.
The Titans recorded four hits and two walks in game one. In game two, the Titans recorded nine hits and four walks.
The Titans return to action on March 4, hosting UW-Superior and Lawrence University.
