
Titans Softball Set for 2023 Season; Picked to Finish Third in WIAC Play
OSHKOSH, Wis.—The UW-Oshkosh Titans are set to open the 2023 softball season with eight games at home. The Titans will host Lakeland University at 11 a.m. on February 25 in the Rec Plex for the season opener.
The Titans return 16 letterwinners from last season and eight starting position players from the squad that went 26-10 overall and 10-4 in WIAC play.
Head coach Scott Beyer, who holds a 221-104 record, is set to lead the Titans in his tenth season at the helm.
Excluding the 2020 season, which was cut short due to the pandemic, the Titans have recorded 25 or more wins in seven of the last nine seasons.
Preseason and National Notes
The Titans are picked to finish third in the preseason poll released by the WIAC. The 14-game slate begins on April 7 with the top-six teams in the standings advancing to the WIAC tournament. The Titans finished last season in second place in the conference.
Hannah Ritter has been named a top-10 Division III hitters to watch by FloSoftball.
Former Titans head coach Sharon Panske earned the National Fastpitch Coaches Association 2022 Donna Newberry "Perseverance" Award.
2023 Schedule Outlook
After opening against Lakeland on February 25, the Titans will host their annual Dome Classic tournament on March 4-5. The Titans will face UW-Superior and Lawrence University. The Titans will host MSOE on March 11 for a doubleheader starting at 1:30 p.m.
Heading south for a slate of games, the Titans are set to compete at the 2023 Spring Games. The Titans will face Hamline, Wesleyan University (CT), Buffalo State University, Millikin, Washington & Jefferson College, Bates College, St. Olaf, Trinity College (CT), Colby College, and Tufts over six days.
Returning to Wisconsin, the Titans travel to St. Norbert for a midweek doubleheader on March 29. The Titans face Ripon on April 4 in Ripon before opening WIAC play against UW-La Crosse on April 7. The Titans will travel to Marian University on April 12 for a midweek game.
The Titans will host UW-Eau Claire on April 15, returning home to the UW-Oshkosh Softball Park. Completing non-conference action, the Titans are set to host Carroll University on April 18 for a doubleheader. The Titans celebrate Alumni Day on April 22 as UW-Whitewater visits Oshkosh.
The Titans hit the road for WIAC play, traveling to UW-Stevens Point (April 23), UW-River Falls (April 29), and UW-Stout (April 30).
The Titans will conclude the regular season, hosting UW-Platteville on May 6. Conference tournament action starts on May 11 and NCAA Regional action starts on May 19.
2022 Honors
Six Titans earned All-WIAC honors last season, headlined by four First Team Selections. Abby Garceau, Sydney Nemetz, Morgan Rau, and Ritter were named to the First Team. Maddie Fink and Sophie Wery were named to the Honorable Mention. Emily Cliver represented the Titans on the All-Sportsmanship team.
Ritter and Garceau earned All-Region Honors from the NFCA in Region VIII. Ritter earned First Team honors while Garceau garnered Second Team accolades. Ritter repeated as an All-America athlete from the NFCA, earning Third Team honors.
