Titans Sweep WIAC Softball Athlete Of The Week Citations

UW-Oshkosh swept the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Kwik Trip Softball Athlete of the Week awards as pitcher Maddie Fink and first baseman Hannah Ritter were honored for their efforts in games played Feb. 21-27.

Fink was named the conference's top pitcher for the week while Ritter was chosen as the league's top position player. It was the fifth career WIAC Pitcher of the Week award for Fink.

Fink appeared in two games and compiled a 1-1 record with a 0.51 earned run average and 12 strikeouts in 13.2 innings pitched.

In UW-Oshkosh's 3-1 victory over Bethany Lutheran College (Minn.) on Feb. 26 in Mankato, Minn., Fink didn't allow an earned run while yielding just three hits and three walks.

Fink was the losing pitcher during the Titans' 1-0 loss to the College of Saint Benedict (Minn.) on Feb. 25 in Mankato. She scattered eight hits and struck out eight batters. The run Fink allowed was unearned.

Ritter hit .643 (9-14) with two doubles as UW-Oshkosh compiled a 3-1 record in games against College of Saint Benedict, Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.), Hamline University (Minn.) and Bethany Lutheran College.

Ritter had multiple-hit totals in all four contests while concluding the week with percentages of .786 for slugging and .643 for on-base. She also handled all 21 of her fielding opportunities without an error.

Ritter's best performance of the week occurred during UW-Oshkosh's 1-0 loss to the College of Saint Benedict on Feb. 26 when she went 3-for-3 at the plate.

Ritter also had two-hit efforts against Gustavus Adolphus College on Feb. 26 and both Hamline University and Bethany Lutheran College on Feb. 27. The games against Gustavus Adolphus College and Hamline University were also played in Mankato.
