Titans’ Season Ends In WIAC Semifinal

UW-Oshkosh posted a 7-2 win over UW-River Falls before falling to UW-Whitewater, 2-1, in the WIAC Softball Tournament on Sunday (May 5) in Onalaska.

Courtney Wautier earned the 50th win of her career in the opener. The senior struck out six in the complete game to finish with 395 K.

Hayden Krueger led off the first game with a double to extend her hitting streak to 13 games. Katie Koepsel drove her in before Hillary Trebiatowski marked another RBI single. With two outs, Kassie Krueger smacked a two-run double down the right-field line to make it 4-0.

UW-Oshkosh (25-11) added two more runs in the second inning and one in the third.

The Falcons (21-16) finally got on the board during the fifth. After Nicole Lubahn singled, Sarah Bohlen blasted her 11th homer of the season to pull within 7-2.

Starting pitcher Andrea Krause allowed four runs in the opening inning to take the loss. UW-River Falls had Brooke Lauritzen toss three scoreless frames to end the contest.

UW-Whitewater (30-5), ranked 14th, went on to win the tournament title with a 7-0 victory over UW-Eau Claire.

Katie Boyle (16-2) held the Titans to just four hits in seven innings. The Warhawks got a two-run single by Laura Eichenold in the second inning, and that's all the scoring they would need.

In the fourth, Trebiatowski knocked a double to center that pulled the Titans within 2-1.

UW-Oshkosh had the tying run on third base with one out in the seventh, but Boyle induced a strikeout and pop-up to clinch the win.

Jill Vondrak went six innings, allowing two runs on four hits, to take the defeat.
