Titans Go 1-1 Against Blue Devils
After dropping the opener in extra innings, UW-Oshkosh exploded for a 15-0 softball victory over UW-Stout on Sunday (April 28) in Menomonie.
The Titans (22-8/9-3 WIAC) ran away with the nightcap thanks to a nine-run outburst in the second and six more runs during the third. Hayden Krueger (Fr. • Bristol) slapped a two-run single that made it 4-0. After RBI doubles from Kaelyn Hogan (Sr. • Greendale) and Tess Fadness (Jr. • Eau Claire), Lindsay Luedke (Fr. • Howard) bashed a three-run homer to center for the 9-0 lead.
Fadness struck again with a two-run double in the third frame. Haley Bayreuther (Fr. • Janesville) and Katie Koepsel (So. • Oak Creek) added RBI singles to increase the margin.
Jill Vondrak (Jr. • Westchester, Ill.) threw the five-inning shutout, striking out two with six hits allowed. The loss went to Laura Vanderhoof, who surrendered two earned runs over 4.2 frames.
During the opener, UW-Oshkosh gained a 1-0 lead on a second-inning error. The Blue Devils came back to tie the game on Taylor Workman's single during the third.
UW-Stout (21-11/9-7 WIAC) scored twice on an error in the fourth inning, and that 3-1 score stood until the seventh.
Down to their final out, the Titans tied the contest on Krueger's two-run double. UW-Oshkosh then stranded the bases loaded during the eighth.
Erin Moss singled and scored the winning win in the ninth. With one out, Taylor Workman drove her home with a single.
Tori Workman and Courtney Wautier (Sr. • Brussels) both pitched the entire game. Workman (win) allowed three unearned runs with four K, while Wautier (loss) yielded two ER with six K.
