Sydnee Wyss (Sr. • Monroe) had five hits and extended her hitting streak to 14 games as the UW-Oshkosh women's softball team split a doubleheader with St. Thomas University (Fla.) on Saturday (March 26) in Fort Myers, Fla.

The Titans (11-3) concluded their spring trip with a 6-4 victory as Wyss marked four singles in the nightcap. St. Thomas University (14-16) didn't get a hit until the seventh inning, but it used Ally Blanco's walk-off single to take game one by a 2-1 score.

UW-Oshkosh's lone tally during the opener was a Tess Fadness (Fr. • Eau Claire) home run in the second frame. Amanda Heyl shut down the Titans the rest of the day, fanning 12 batters with zero walks in eight innings.

Carissa Albizu singled with two outs to start the Bobcat rally in the seventh. Another single by Cindy Castrillon equaled the score at 1. Blanco then ripped her hit to centerfield during the eighth to end the contest.

The loss went to Courtney Wautier (So. • Brussels), who did not allow an earned run over 7.1 innings. She recorded 20 outs before surrendering a base hit. Fadness paced the Titans with three hits in the game, as Amanda Schroeder (So. • Kaukauna) accounted for two of her team's seven.

The Titans surprised the Royals in game two by reaching on a pair of bunt singles. Following an error, Jamie Braden (Sr. • Lake Villa, Ill.) walked to force in a run. UW-Oshkosh got a Kelley Koebler (Jr. • Janesville) single during the second inning to gain a 3-0 advantage.

Braden added to the lead (6-0) with a bases-clearing double in the fourth frame. St. Thomas finally came back with four runs in its half of the fifth. A Blanco double drove home one run, as Sasha Horton booked two RBI with another double. The Royals had the trying run at the plate during the seventh, but they were caught stealing to end the game.

Brenda Emerson struck out 10 batters, but she yielded 10 hits and six runs over six frames. UW-Oshkosh starter Elizabeth Greatens (Fr. • Green Bay) allowed two earned runs in four frames to get the win before Tatum Schultz (So. • Oshkosh) contributed two scoreless innings of work. Wautier retired three straight Royals in order to earn her second save.
