Braden, Wyss Collect All-Region Awards

For the first time since 1997, UW-Oshkosh placed multiple players on the All-Region First Team as Jamie Braden (Sr. • Lake Villa, Ill.) and Sydnee Wyss (Sr. • Monroe) were selected to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association NCAA Division III squad.

A total of 15 players made it onto the All-Great Lakes Region First Team. Wyss, who led the WIAC with a .486 on-base percentage, was an all-region third-team pick last year. Braden (catcher) was also very productive, walking a team-high 14 times to reach base at a .473 clip.

Wyss, a shortstop, posted the league's second-best batting average (.436) and run total (38). Starting all 38 games, she booked seven doubles, two triples, one home run and 16 runs batted in. Wyss also stole 10 bases to rank fourth in the WIAC. In a victory against Edgewood College, she marked four hits, four runs scored and two RBI. Wyss smacked four base hits during contests with both St. Thomas University (Fla.) and UW-River Falls.

Never missing a start in four years, Wyss completes her 161-game career with 195 hits. She totaled 34 doubles, nine homers, seven triples and 78 RBI as UW-Oshkosh tallied four winning seasons. Leading off for the Titans, Wyss racked up 133 runs, 34 stolen bases and a .421 on-base percentage. Her 2010 season featured a .343 batting average with four home runs, 41 runs scored and 28 RBI. In 2009, she hit .362 with nine doubles and 27 runs scored.

Braden played in 37 contests while hitting .393 and leading the Titans with 35 RBI. She posted six doubles and two homers, to go along with 10 multi-RBI games. Braden knocked in four runs during victories over both Hamilton College (N.Y.) and St. Thomas University. In a doubleheader split with UW-Superior, she recorded six hits and four RBI. Braden also ripped four hits with three RBI during a win over UW-Stout.

Last season, Braden saw action in 33 games. She compiled a .238 batting average with four doubles, one home run and 15 RBI. Braden finishes her UW-Oshkosh career with a .337 average, 10 doubles, three home runs and 50 RBI.

The WIAC placed eight players on the All-Great Lakes Region First Team. The other six included three from UW-Whitewater (Emily Epifanio, Lauren Rankins, Jessica Stang), two from UW-River Falls (Amanda Ryder, Rose Tusa) and UW-Eau Claire's Jess Freagon.
