Men’s Cross Country and Krause Earn Academic All-America Honors

NEW ORLEANS, La.- The UW-Oshkosh men's cross country team and sophomore Jake Krause were named to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III Academic All-America lists on Thursday. The team earned the honors for the sixth year in a row.

Oshkosh complied a 3.24 cumulative GPA during the fall semester and was one of 189 teams that earned at least a 3.10 cumulative GPA.

Concordia University Wisconsin led men's teams with a 3.79 GPA, followed by Emory University (Ga.), Colorado College, Swarthmore College (Pa.) and Willamette University (Ore.) in the top five.

Fellow WIAC programs UW-La Crosse (3.48), UW-Platteville (3.382), UW-River Falls (3.332), UW-Stevens Point (3.23), UW-Stout (3.37) and UW-Whitewater (3.367) also earned honors.

Krause, an interactive web management major was named to the individual Academic All-America list. He registered top-35 finishes this season in the Jim Drew Invitational (20th) and NCAA North Regional (23rd). Krause is a graduate of Hortonville High School.

320 student-athletes were named to the individual list, with five runners from La Crosse, three from Stevens Point, four from Stout and three from Whitewater earning runners on the list.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology was named the National Scholar Team of the Year and senior from MIT, Sam Acquaviva was named the National Scholar Athlete of the Year.

Last Season

The team earned their fifth consecutive team honors last season, joined by individual athletes Mitchell Bradford, Cody Chadwick and Andrew George.
