Titans Close Regular Season With Warhawk Open Title

Five of the meet's top eight runners belonged to UW-Oshkosh as the Titans won the four-team UW-Whitewater Warhawk Men's Cross Country Open Friday (Oct. 22) in Whitewater.

UW-Oshkosh captured the team title with 27 points while UW-Stevens Point finished second with 59, UW-Platteville third with 68 and UW-Whitewater fourth with 72. All four squads rested several of its top runners in preparation for next Saturday's (Oct. 30) Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship in Colfax.

Cody Witthun paced UW-Oshkosh with his second-place time of 27:09.7 for the 8,000-meter race. The Titans also had Noah Bruehl finish fourth with a time of 27:19.9, Ryan Dolnik sixth in 27:20.4, Andrew Strasser seventh in 27:23.7 and Dwight Hosni eighth in 27:29.5.

UW-Platteville's Logan Bell won the race of 48 contestants with a time of 26:38.0 while UW-Stevens Point's John Lee finished third in 27:12.2 and UW-Whitewater's Nick Schmidt fifth in 27:20.2.

Other UW-Oshkosh results had Noah O'Neill finish 16th with a time of 27:58.1, Michael Kreuser 17th in 28;00.5, Isaac Lueck 23rd in 28:24.1, Zachary Nelson 43rd in 30:25.0, Joe Hertel 45th in 30:57.3 and Jeremiah Wilson 48th in 32:39.2.
