Nationally Ranked Titans Finish Fourth At Inter-Regional Rumble

UW-Oshkosh had all five of its scorers in the top 41 individual finishes to earn a fourth-place team listing at the Oberlin College Men's Cross Country Inter-Regional Rumble held Saturday (Oct. 16) in Oberlin, Ohio.

John Carroll University (Ohio) won the 35-team meet with 60 points while UW-Whitewater finished second with 67, Carnegie Mellon University (Pa.) third with 103, UW-Oshkosh fourth with 130 and Case Western Reserve University (Ohio) fifth with 151.

Completing the order of top 10 teams were sixth-place University of Mount Union (Ohio) with 174 points, seventh-place Franciscan University (Ohio) with 176, eighth-place UW-Stevens Point with 225, ninth-place State University of New York at Brockport with 314 and 10th-place Allegheny College (Pa.) with 333.

John Carroll University entered the meet ranked seventh in the NCAA Division III by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association while UW-Whitewater was eighth, Carnegie Mellon University 17th, UW-Oshkosh 19th, and Case Western Reserve University 26th.

Steven Potter was the first UW-Oshkosh runner to cross the finish line in the 8,000-meter race. He placed 15th among the meet's 308 competitors with a time of 26:04.6.

The Titans also had Cody Chadwick finish 20th with a time of 26:07.9, Andrew George 25th in 26:17.7, Mitchell Bradford 31st in 26:26.0, Joe Kehoe 41st in 26:44.4, Jason Ford 87th in 27:31.4 and Eduardo Neri 96th in 27:39.2.

Alex Phillip of John Carroll University claimed the individual title with a time of 24:59.5. Jeff Joseph of University of Mount Union finished second to Phillip with a time of 25:07.8, David Fassbender of UW-Whitewater third in 25:13.7, Liam Galligan of Franciscan University fourth in 25:26.7 and Jack Begley of Case Western Reserve University fifth in 25:30.2.  

UW-Oshkosh races Friday (Oct. 22) at the UW-Whitewater Warhawk Open.
