Titans Run To Gene Davis Invitational Title

Seven of the top 22 runners belonged to UW-Oshkosh and the result was a first-place finish for the Titans at the Lawrence University Gene Davis Men's Cross Country Invitational held Saturday (Oct. 9) at the Reid Golf Course in Appleton.

UW-Oshkosh, which won the Concordia University Wisconsin Ken Weidt Classic on Sept. 11, tallied 31 points Saturday to outscore its seven other challengers in the team competition.

Lawrence University finished second to the Titans with 59 points while Ripon College placed third with 72, UW-Stevens Point fourth with 93, Carroll University fifth with 140, College of Lake County (Ill.) sixth with 175, Lake Forest College (Ill.) seventh with 183 and Beloit College eighth with 225.

UW-Oshkosh was led individually by Eduardo Neri's sixth-place time of 26:30.0 for the 8,000-meter race. Titans Cody Witthun finished seventh in 26:43.3, Dwight Hosni 10th in 26:49.5 and Ryan Dolnik 13th in 27:02.5.

UW-Oshkosh also had Noah Bruehl place 16th with a time of 27:06.9, Michael Kreuser 19th in 27:16.5, Andrew Strasser 22nd in 27:23.5 and Joe Hertel 47th in 28:42.1.

A total of 116 runners crossed the finish line, including Ripon College's David Potter who placed first with a time of 26:00.5 and Lawrence University's Sam Brewer who ranked second in 26:14.1.

The Minnesota Running Club owned the next three finishers as Isaac Maruyama listed third with a time of 26:21.3, Jace Galley fourth in 26:25.0 and Aleksander Wormuth fifth in 26:25.4.

Other UW-Oshkosh results had Issac Lueck finish 56th with a time of 29:04.8, Zachary Nelson 68th in 29:35.2, Reid Marquardt 70th in 29:37.5 and Jeremiah Wilson 89th in 31:49.9.

UW-Oshkosh participates at the Oberlin College Inter-Regional Rumble next Saturday (Oct. 16) in Oberlin, Ohio.
